Summary

England the great leaders try to locate a new king to rule the new kingdom. Hob and Kay went to the field to learn falconry. As they were training Sir Ector was traveling in from England. The hawk Cully runs away after Hob was trying to train him. Kay and The Wart are trying to find Cully before any animals do.

As the Wart was trying to find his way home he had come to a cottage owned by an old man named Merlin. The Wart and Merlin had finally captured the hawk Cully and is returning it to the bird cage. Sir Ector gives Merlin and the Wart a tour of his palace showing them his most favorite possession his dogs. Merlin took the Wart to a pond behind Sir Ectors palace. Merlin asks the Wart what type of fish he wants to be. The Wart tells him that he wants to be a perch. So Merlin takes out his wand and turns the Wart into a perch to begin his first lesson.

The Wart was captured by the witch and was taken to her lair to be feasted on by her. After the Wart was taken by the witch Merlin went to get him back. The witch was about to eat him until Merlin burst through the door to save him and challenged the witch to a duel. Merlin had won and took the Wart back to the castle. While learning to joust Wart wanted to know what it was like to be a real knight. So Merlin used his powers to take them to the forest where King Pellinore was. As they were speaking with each other Sir Grummore appeared and challenged King Pellinore to a jousting match.

King Pellinore accepted Sir Grummore's challenge and they went to the battle field. They charged at each other and the battle in a draw. The battle continued with a sword fight and went on throughout the day. The battle between Sir Grummore and King Pellinore ended with a tie. At the castle Merlin began Wart's next lesson. Merlin used his powers to turn Wart into a hawk thus began Wart's next lesson.

While Wart was learning his next lesson he was under an initiation with the hawks to be part of their group. The trial was he could not move until he heard a bell ring 3 times. Then a wolf appeared and tried to eat Wart. When the third bell rang Wart got away safely and was part of the group. After that was finished Merlin took Wart back to the castle.

The next day Kay was mad at Wart for sneaking out after curfew. While arguing Wart and Kay got into a fight. After making Kay's nose bleed he left the room and looked for Merlin. Wart found Merlin in the hallway and asked if Kay could be a part of his lessons. Merlin denied but told him to take Kay to Hob's place for there was an adventure for them. Wart and Kay went on the trip as Merlin ordered.

They got to a camp where they met a man named Robin Wood. At Robin's Camp Wart and Kay were put into Maid Marian's band and was led to the cave where the fairies were hidden. While Wart and Kay were exploring the castle the witch appeared and told them to go back. The boys refused to return and the witch vanished. When Wart and Kay looked around everyone was gone. With everyone gone Wart and Kay went to find their friends. They walked into a courtroom and there were their friends hanging in a cage. As the boys tried to save them a griffin attacked. Then Kay took his bow and shot the griffin with the arrow and saved the gang.

At the castle Wart and Kay told Merlin about the adventure they had with Robin and Marian. Merlin was pleased and told Wart about his next lesson. At the castle Sir Ector had received a letter from a man named Uther. Sir Ector had gotten a hunter named William Tywti who was sent by Uther to hunt down the Forest Sauvege. At the day of the competition all 3 contestants began their hunt.

During the hunt a dark figure rushed out of the forest and attacked Sir Grummore. They killed it with ease and continued with the competition. Wart began his next lesson as a bird and went with Archimedes to visit his mother Athene who would give Wart his lesson. For the lesson Wart had to travel through 2 different dreams: the Dream of the Trees and the Dream of the Stones. Wart had passed and went back with Archimedes back to the castle.

Merlin took Wart to the giants cave where they had to rescue some prisioners. Merlin had given Wart and himself a spell that would make them invisible, so that hey would be able to get into the castle without being caught. In the castle Adam who was the giant was torturing his prisoners. He heard Merlin and Wart coming so he attacked them. Before Adam was about to end Merlin a beast ran in and took down Adam. Adam was slain and Merlin and Wart rescued the prisoners.

6 years passed by and Kay and wart matured. Archimedes got married and Kay was getting ready to become a knight. Wart was talking about how when he would become a knight and rid the world of evil forever. It was the day that Kay was a going to be a knight. Wart was excited and sad at the same time. After the initiation King Pellinore arrived and announced that the King of England has died. Everyone was quiet then King Pellinore spoke again saying that there was a sword in an anvil in a stone, and that if someone pulled out the sword he would become the new king of england.

Before their trip to England Wart went to Merlin to invite him to join them. Sadly though Merlin had to go for he had finished his job. Merlin was to teach Wart until Kay was initiated then Wart would become Kay's squire. Wart was sad and as Merlin disappeared he told Wart goodbye. When they arrived in England Wart and the group stayed in an inn and left the next morning. Then Kay realized that he forgot his sword back at the inn and sent Wart to grab it for him. Wart went back to the inn but the inn keeper told him that there was no sword here. As he walked out of the inn Wart saw a sword in a stone. Wart walked to the sword grasped the handle and with a firm tug he pulled the sword out with ease. Kay ran in and noticed that Wart was holding the sword. Merlin then appeared and told Wart that he now had to guide him as Wart became the new king of England.
